Oral Submucous Fibrosis

Date

Oral Submucous Fibrosis & Gutka Related Disorders

Fibrosis of oral mucosa, pharynx & palate, secondary to Gutka & Betel nut chewing (supari) is disease of the 21st century. Even international surgeons are in dilemma as per as the management is concern. Many forms of treatment have been tried without any long term success e.g. skin grafts, tongue flaps, temporal-fascia flaps. Use of Laser causes more fibrosis & leads to further trismus. It is more detrimental than beneficial. We have developed a single stage technique of nasolabial flaps for the complete cure. This technique is absolute promising without any failures. For minor fibrosis bilateral palatal flaps are used.
